If your trying to be found in Search engines your going to need to invest some time into keyword research. However, this does not mean you will need to invest money.

Keyword research is an SEO strategy aimed at helping web designers understand the keywords that are proving to be the most effective for them. They can then use this information to plan content and optimize content on their pages.

Gone are the days when it was possible to keyword research using Google AdSense keyword planner for no cost at all. Unfortunately now users who used to rely on this free service have become more and more reliant on external tools as Google incrementally restricted this service.

The flip side of this is that while they paid services are asking for large sums of money they are offering a whole range of features that Google never touched on the make the SEO business much easier to plan for web designers.

There are now two key ways you can get your keyword research for free. You can use free tools or free trials. In this post, I will explore both options.

Use Free Tools

Where to find free tools?

Word Stream -
Word Stream tell their user they have a free keyword tool that makes it fast and easy to find the keywords your business needs to drive traffic through organic and paid search.

Moz Free -
Moz offers a cool range of tools that they claim are the best free tools for link building and analysis, keyword research, webpage performance, local listing audits, and more! I especially recommend the MOZ bar

Word Tracker -
This is a keyword tool that claims to be the best free alternative to Googles keyword tracker and that they can reveal 100’s of long tail keywords. They will even save your keyword list and filter them in one place.

Pro’s

This works when your marketing budget is still zero.

There are limitations but this may be sufficient if you just starting out and if you need bigger then your probably at the stage when you need to start investing real money into SEO

What you see is what you get so when any of these tools so you can relax and know that when and if anything you search for is said it will still be there next time you log in

Cons

There are limitations on what you can do compared to pricier options. This can be the number of searches performed or a number of saved versions.

Providers of these tools are going to be constantly trying to upsell you their premium products.

Use Free Trials

Use free trials means taking advantage of services like MOZ Pro or SEM rush who offer a period of time where users can access all their services
Pro features for free.

Who are offering free trials

MOZ Pro -
MOZ Pro claims to be a complete SEO toolset that helps boost your rankings and search engine visibility.
Thier main offerings are that they decipher the data so you don't have to, they offer unique data you can trust and save time and streamline your workflow.
They offer a 30-day free trial

Pro’s

Your getting access to premium services and even premium support.

You are also getting access to inside knowledge of how to organize your keyword research wisely

Con’s

After your month - or however long the trial lasts - you are no longer going to be able to access the organizational tools that allow you to keep track of your keywords.

There is also a limit to how many decent services are on offering free trials.

You are probably going to need to hand over some of your banking details to get started.
